Over $6,000 was Raised to Benefit the United Way of Blount County
Gallaher hosted a charitable golf tournament on Friday, October 27, 2023 to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary and benefit the United Way of Blount County, a local nonprofit that advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. The event was held at Egwani Farms in Rockford, TN, which is near the Gallaher Alcoa corporate office.
80 golfers making up 20 teams began by eating lunch, warming up on the driving range and practice greens, and standing in attendance as Tennessee District 8 Representative Jerome Moon presented Gallaher Founder Roy Gallaher with a state proclamation commemorating the company’s 50 years in business, highlighted by exemplary service to their customers, employees, and community. Mr. Gallaher expressed appreciation for all in attendance, and shared anecdotal lessons learned over the years as a fledgling east Tennessee business that continued to grow and expand with each passing decade. Roy’s son, Tom Gallaher also shared his perspective as both a family member and employee, and expressed appreciation for what the company has not only accomplished, but being able to provide career stability and a good quality of life for the extended Gallaher family of employees over the years. The event was emceed by Max Thomas, Gallaher’s president.
Tournament sponsors included Ascom, Napco, Massey Electric, Pinnacle Financial Partners, Flynn Electric Company, Facility Systems Consultants, and Brown & Brown.
The silent auction also had 15 corporate donations from Cruze Farm, Scruffy City Ring Shop, Jack Horsley Photography, Texas Roadhouse, Aubrey’s, Knoxville Zoo, Tennessee Smokies, Alumni Hall, Dave & Busters, Walnut Kitchen, Soaky Mountain Waterpark, ADI Global, Hotworkz, Peak IV Hydration, and Dollywood.
